Senior Base Pilot

Airflite (www.airflite.com.au) has been successfully operating for over 40 years across commercial, government and defence sectors within the Asia-Pacific region where its current business activities include maintenance, repair, overhaul and upgrade of fixed-wing & rotary wing aircraft and components; aircraft charter, aerial work and flying training; fixed-based operations; and aircraft product support, sales and leasing. 

AFC is a Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASR) Part 141 and 142 approved flight training organisation, and a Registered Training Organisation (No. 52904) where it is dedicated in providing flying training for career pilots through its integrated and non-integrated flying training course programs.

AFC conducts flying training from its Jandakot Airport campus and has recently establishing a secondary operating base at its Airflite facilities located at 55 Grange Road, Moorabbin Airport, Victoria.

AFC training aircraft presently consist of Cessna 172S & 182T, Piper PA-44-180 and American Champion Aircraft Corp. 8KCAB aircraft models.   

The Role

AFC is seeking applications from experienced Commercial Pilots (Aeroplane) that hold a Flight Instructor Rating with Grade 1 Aeroplane Training Endorsement to perform the role of Senior Base Pilot (Moorabbin Airport) for AFC’s CASR Part 141/142 Organisation. 

In addition, the position will also undertake other flying operations as Airflite further evolves its fixed-wing air transport and aerial work operations under the latest CASR flight operations regulations (i.e. CASR Parts 91, 119, 121, 135 & 138).

This full-time position shall be accountable to the AFC Head of Operations (HOO)/Head of Flying Operations (HOFO) for AFC flying operations from Moorabbin Airport where your duties will include, but are not limited to, undertaking any delegated HOO/HOFO duties, conducting flight tests and operator proficiency checks, administration, flight training in AFC training aircraft, conducting flight instructor standardisation training and even at times teaching ground school and preparing classroom training materials.  Be prepared for an interesting and varied work experience that will also include some charter flying.

As Senior Base Pilot (Moorabbin Airport) you will work collaboratively with AFC’s RTO staff and other licenced commercial (flight instructor) pilots to enable the AFC organisation to deliver flying training and assessment to AFC students that will meet extant Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 and CASR Part 61 Flight crew licensing requirements. 

In context of the above requirements, Airflite would look favourably on applicants that hold:

• A CPL(A) or ATPL(A)
• Grade 1 Instructor Rating with Multi Engine TE, Instrument Rating TE, Design Feature TE, Instructor Rating TE and NVFR TE
• Current command instrument rating with at least three (3) consecutive instrument rating renewals 
• Training and Checking Experience
• Previous experience as either a CASA Chief Pilot/HOFO, HOO, CFI, Flight Examiner or have held 61.040 Testing Approvals
• Potential to satisfactorily pass a CASA HOO and HOFO assessment.
• Current Class 1 CASA Aviation medical certificate
• Flight Examiner Rating
• Turbine or Jet type rating
• Multi Crew experience
• Certificate IV Training and Assessment, or a diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education
