We have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Senior Commercial Officer within our Maritime Sustainment Line of Business. You will be working with our Commercial Function where your contribution will ensure the best commercial outcomes for the Customer and BAE Systems Australia.

This opportunity is available at our Osborne Shipyard SA location and is open to flexible ways of working such as hybrid work and a 9 day fortnight.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the implementation of procedures and controls within the specified area to ensure compliance with commercial policies
  • Building and maintaining both internal and external customer stakeholder relationships
  • Managing end to end contract activities including contract changes, customer correspondence and managing claims, with minimal supervision
  • Providing specialist commercial advice to Project Managers and the wider business
  • Supporting all Contract and Bid Status Reviews
  • Drafting moderately complex contracts / agreements with little supervision
  • Ensuring that the businesses financial and commercial exposures are addressed through appropriate commercial contract frameworks such as export controls, finance, product safety (including insurance) and intellectual property rights

About YOU

You'll have:

  • Relevant experience that has provided you with a good understanding of  the role and responsibilities of a Senior Commercial Officer
  • Team orientation with a high level of written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders of all levels and from a range of disciplines
  • An ability to work as part of a team or independently with little supervision and guidance and using your own experience, judgement and initiative
  • A collaborative, adaptable and solution-focused approach
  • Be adept at building and maintaining excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Computer literacy, with intermediate knowledge of MS Suite. Familiarity with tools like SharePoint and Oracle is desirable
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
