Senior Commissioning Engineer - Substations

The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical leadership and expertise through the application of engineering skills, processes, and procedures to manage the commissioning activities for National Projects delivery.

About the Role

• Applying your knowledge of local utilities and private HV clients to successfully deliver projects and support the planning, budgeting and execution of a wide range of transmission, distribution and renewables projects across Australia.
• Lead and manage the onsite commissioning of primary plant, secondary protection, control, and communication systems ensuring correct installation and testing.
• Assist in development and implementation of the commissioning procedures, management of the project commissioning plans and delivery of the commissioning documentation.
• Provide technical commentary, estimate and specialist discipline engineering support during project tendering stage.
• End to end oversight and involvement in EPC delivery model.
• Plan and support the commissioning phase of projects including client, internal and external stakeholders.

ABOUT YOU

• Previous experience in Testing & Commissioning of green field / brownfield electrical transmission and distribution substations, preferably with 2 years as testing and commissioning lead.
• Qualifications in an Electrical trade or Electrical Engineering
• Sound understanding of Electrical Engineering principles, transmission line, bus bar, transformer protection fundamentals, schemes, and experience in generation, renewables (wind and solar), traction, transmission and distribution.
• Current Unrestricted Australian Driver's License and ability to travel locally and interstate.
• Experience in testing and commissioning of primary and secondary electrical equipment and protection systems including SCADA and communications in High Voltage Substations
• Proficiency in the latest primary/ secondary system testing techniques / equipment such as Omicron/Doble, experience with 61850 and advanced testing methods will be highly regarded.
