About the role

Amazing opportunity to join our Programming team as a Senior Curator (Design and Technology) in this full-time fixed term role (1 April 2024 – 1 November 2025). Reporting to the Director of Programming, the Senior Curator (Design and Technology) will lead the development, curation and delivery of ACMI's major exhibition in 2025, providing leadership and expertise in the fields of museology, technology and design. Working in partnership with stakeholders you will deliver an ambitious exhibition program featuring virtual worlds and interactive media. You'll be part of a small, fast paced, creative, passionate team that prides itself on creating international museum standard exhibitions for our audiences.

What you'll bring to the role

  • Experience leading the development of major cultural exhibitions focusing on the medium of screen culture (specifically Design and Technology, alongside games and digital content), delivering high quality visitor experiences and audience outcomes.
  • Strong research, writing, and networking skills, as well as the ability to manage exhibition challenges within budget and timeline constraints.
  • Adapt at leading multi-skilled teams, collaborating with stakeholders and committed to First Nations programming.
  • Knowledgeable about caring for and acquisition of contemporary digital objects.
  • Networks in museums, Design and video games sectors. Experience loaning and adapting relevant material culture for inclusion in exhibitions.

  • Full-time fixed term role, 1 April 2024 – 1 November 2025. Grade 5.1 role with a starting salary of $106,534 plus super.
