The Administrative Appeals Tribunal is looking for a Senior Data Science Officer to join our supportive, friendly, and collaborative Data Science team. 

This role can be based in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney or Perth location. This position is an ongoing position.

Remuneration: The salary range for the position is APS6: $90,199 - $102,499 p.a., plus a generous employer contribution of 15.4% superannuation applies.

About the opportunity:

The Senior Data Science Officer contributes to the delivery of the AAT’s Data Science function. With significant data warehousing, business intelligence implementation and operational experience, the Senior Data Science Officer is responsible for supporting the delivery of a sustainable data integration and reporting capability to meet the data and information needs of the Tribunal and its stakeholders.

The Senior Data Science Officer supports the section to deliver data services that support a range of strategic, policy and operational decision-making activities. Working with a multi-disciplinary team, the Senior Data Science Officer gathers user requirements, designs, develops and quality assures data services, using Microsoft technologies.

About you:

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Data extraction, transformation and reporting development experience.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to identify information requirements, plan and model data collection to support the integration of operational and corporate datasets.
  • Experience in programming languages such as Python, SQL, R, Scala or similar including a working knowledge of stream processing and distributed/documented databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain appropriate operational management and governance documentation to ensure data and reporting products are reliable, repeatable and consistent.

Position Eligibility Requirements:

The AAT requires Australian Citizenship as a condition of engagement.

All employees are required to undertake an Australian Federal Police Check and health assessment.

Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in Data Science, computer science or other relevant qualifications.
