Current manufacturing projects include custom emergency service, health, education and rescue vehicles, defence ambulances and arms storage facilities, industrial and recreational electric vehicles, power plant restorations and rail maintenance works. In addition, services offered include custom engineering and production, made-to-specification manufacturing, electrical and mechanical repairs and repeat vehicle, marine and rail appliance maintenance.
Varley is currently seeking suitably qualified and experienced Senior Designer to join their team.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Deliver design solutions through the complete lifecycle of product development.
- Oversight of the design team across multiple projects. Prepare and / or lead engineering planning and documentation and preparation of engineering deliverables for gate reviews.
- Take ownership of the quality of deliverables and service from the design team
- Provision of detail design and drafting (CAD based) together with “As-Built-Drawings”.
- Creation of BOMs (Bill of Material) and data entry into MRP/ERP systems
- Liaise with clients and key stakeholders to manage project work flows as required, including budgeting, scheduling, supplier performance and resource management ensuring high quality outcomes.
- Review and utilise customer specified standards and relevant regulations to prepare system requirements and ensure effectiveness of deliverable.
- Ensure timely & effective reporting of Engineering activities, risks, mitigation, direction, and results to the management team.
- Mentor, train and support development of junior engineers and designers.
- Compliance with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Relevant qualifications
- At least 2 years relevant experience.
- Substantial experience providing mechanical design solutions and project support including functional specification development, design coordination, safety in design, constructability reviews, testing and commissioning.
- Demonstrated experience in the successful implementation of relevant standards such as Australian Engineering and Technical standards (or equivalent international guidelines).
- Understanding of Australian Design Rules (ADR’s) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Hydraulic & Electrical Circuits is considered advantageous.
- Inventor/Vault CAD experience preferred
