About The Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Development Chemist to join our team in Sunshine, Melbourne. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development and maintenance of our coil product portfolio for the South Asia region. You will play a key role in driving innovation, collaborating with global teams, and ensuring the successful execution of technical projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creative Product Design: Lead the creative design of new products, formulations, and test protocols to support our coil business.
  • Project Management Excellence: Effectively manage multiple projects, ensuring alignment of goals and deliverables with business and market needs. Drive projects from concept to commercialization, meeting timelines and quality standards.
  • Global Collaboration: Collaborate closely with regional and global product development teams to ensure projects are on track and meet customer and business requirements. Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders to drive innovation and achieve project objectives.
  • Technical Expertise: Utilise your strong technical background to set up, plan, execute, analyze, interpret, and report on experiments. Identify new product/process optimization and technical solutions, sharing insights with other professionals to drive continuous improvement.
  • Research Methodology Development: Develop and improve research methodologies and protocols in line with business strategy and project objectives. Maintain and update current procedures/methods, ensuring the retention of knowledge through comprehensive research reports.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments including procurement, marketing, sales, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs to ensure seamless execution of projects. Liaise with suppliers and customers as needed to drive project success.
  • Technical Service: Provide technical support and solutions for the South Asia team to troubleshoot customer issues. Manage formulation guidelines and complete Lab Work Requests in a timely manner. Share knowledge and best practices with team members.
  • Project Leadership: Lead long-term key R&D projects, such as the development of next-generation durable topcoats and new pigments evaluation. Manage technical reports and present results to stakeholders.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental objectives. Lead monthly safety meetings to promote a safe working environment and adherence to HSE policies and procedures.

What would you bring to the table:

  • PhD or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/Polymer Science or equivalent.
  • 6-9 years of experience in the Industrial Coatings industry, with a strong understanding of coatings technologies platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven track record in project management, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
