This role resides in the Transport Communication & Experience Division and supports the Department to deliver on the Government's transport agenda, to get people home sooner and safer and to efficiently move more goods in Victoria's thriving economy. Be part of a cross-functional team to deliver one of the Departments digital modernisation programs, set-up for scale to enable clear and foundational digital experiences across the Departments digital assets, moving towards a standardised technology framework. The Department of Transport brings together all transport modes to design, plan, build and operate Victoria's transport system. Our job is to further integrate the transport network and improve the delivery of services to Victorians for simpler, quicker and safer journeys that connect people and places and support Victoria's prosperity and liveability.

Role Purpose

Responsible for crafting copy inside the product, our preferred candidate will be a well-read, savvy researcher and overall problem solver. They are an excellent writer and know the style guide by heart. They can adapt to a brief's requirements from delivering short, operational messages that are succinct, accurate and timely; to longer form marketing copy that tells a story and is engaging. They are crucial in taking messages from the business and translating them into digestible language for the everyday user.

  • Researching, drafting/editing and publishing content
  • Custodian of, and advocate for the product's style guide
  • Working with Product Owners and understanding the product's information architecture, content taxonomy and publishing workflows
  • Applying problem-solving skills in resolving complex issues
  • Managing multiple projects with conflicting deadlines and delivery outcomes
  • Experience in researching complex subject matter and delivering concise, succinct content solutions
  • Working with Content Management Systems

Mandatory Qualifications and experience

  • University degree in Marketing, English, Journalism or related field
  • 3+ years' experience working as a Content Writer Copywriter or similar role in digital, marketing, communications etc.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS, user experience and human-centre design disciplines (desirable)
