Job Description:

Saab is seeking a Senior Director of Program Management (PM) to be responsible for the successful execution of precision fire weapon programs in the Land Systems division. Specifically, the Senior Director will lead the transition of technology from Sweden and grow production capacity in the United States. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in the production and fielding of complex weapon systems, and an in-depth knowledge of products, markets, and technologies in the land domain.

 

The Senior Director will work collaboratively with colleagues from Sweden and the US to ensure program success, as well as develop and implement a successful business growth strategy for the precision fire weapon portfolio. This will include recommendations and execution of IRAD plans to support long term business objectives. Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

Specifically accountable for cost, schedule and technical performance of assigned program portfolios.

  • Establish and control program budgets that are aligned with program needs.

  • Ensure all projects within assigned program are managed and executed within approved program management processes.

  • Manage key personnel to include hiring in support of business objectives.

  • Establish strategic plans for Precision Fires portfolio working with Saab Dynamics personnel to align US strategy with global growth goals.

  • Coordinate and provide guidance to marketing and sales teams to influence portfolio goals.

  • Lead key engagements with a broad range of stakeholders, including DOD program offices, DCMA, industry partners, and DOD requirements organizations

  • Manage relationships with the Saab Dynamics Missiles Systems Business Unit.

Oversee profitable growth of the program segment.

  • Manage and enhance relationships with the customer community and with key industry partners, to include suppliers.

  • Lead identification and pursuit of significant new business opportunities.

  • Work closely with Sales and Product Management personnel to maintain institutional knowledge of the competitive landscape in the assigned market segment.

  • Develop high quality competitive proposals that facilitate achievement of business segment objectives.

  • Collaborate with all functions to leverage program execution and capture strategies, and resources through the design and manufacturing phases of the programs in the portfolio.

Provide consistent leadership to the program execution staff to ensure effective and efficient execution of assigned programs.

  • Develop program status packages and present them to Saab Senior Leadership.

  • Monitor and guide junior PMs to achieve delivery of distinctively high-quality products and services; to include performance, reliability, cost and on-time delivery.

  • Contribute to the development and retention of program management talent.

Total Annual Compensation Opportunity: $222,200 - $305,500

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related discipline is required, MBA is preferred.

  • 15+ years of Program Management experience, with $50M+ annual revenue responsibility.

  • 15+ years of People Management experience, directly or indirectly leading organizations of 5 or more individuals.

  • 15+ years of Defense/ Aerospace Industry experience in Engineering, Business or related position.

  • Experience successfully negotiating multi-million dollar agreements with large Defense customers.

  • Demonstrated track record leading large scale defense business capture efforts.

  • Must possess advanced knowledge of program management standards and best practices (scheduling, cost accounting, EVMS, Risk/Opportunity management).

  • Ability to contribute to the development strategy and lead strategic initiatives in support of functional and business objectives.

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% in support of program and business development efforts.

  • Must be capable of obtaining a Secret level clearance.
