Job Position Description
Job Title: Senior Draftsperson
Job Classification: Full-time
Job Location: Broadbeach, Gold Coast QLD
Compensation: $85,000 to $95,000 plus superannuation
Reports to: Drafting Team Leader, Draftsperson
Assist the Drafting and Design Manager to ensure the objectives and targets of the drafting department are achieved. Produce accurate and precise drawings and documentation as well as liaise with a wide range of industry stakeholders to facilitate relevant approvals required.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Apply knowledge of relevant building codes and legislation including, but not limited to, the NCC, QDC, Australians Standards, Local Authority Planning Schemes, Plans of Development and Covenant Design Guidelines for single and two storey homes as well as low-rise unit developments.
* Develop and apply knowledge of NDIS Specialist Disability Accommodation Design Standard Requirements.
* Training and development of subordinate/junior employees as required.
* Produce preliminary plans for sale contracts including Site & Floor Plans and Elevations which comply with all relevant building codes and developer covenant requirements.
* Produce detailed working drawings for building approvals and construction plans.
* Amendment of plans as required to facilitate approval.
* Ordering of relevant engineering documents and checking of details/coordination with working drawings as required.
* Design/produce drawings and documentation within the expectations/guidelines of the Employer.
* Liaising and assisting with estimating department and construction site supervisors.
* Liaising with Building Certifiers as required and assist with RFI's for building approvals.
* Liaising and assisting with council applications, submissions, and development approvals.
* Liaising with third party consultants, contractors etc.
* Other tasks as reasonably requested by the Employer.
Skills & Qualifications
* Architectural or Drafting qualifications (preferred).
* Minimum 7 years' experience in a Drafting position within the residential home building market.
* Archi-CAD experience is essential.
* Sound understanding & knowledge of the construction industry and various code requirements pertaining to residential development.
