About Your Role
The Senior Drugand Alcohol Peer Support Worker, Community Drug and Alcohol Services provides a leadership role to the Drug and Alcohol peer workforce to ensure delivery of high-quality care to people accessing Community Drug and Alcohol services. The position will be based within an MLHD Community Drug and Alcohol service.
Drawing on their relevant qualifications and professional experience, the Senior Drugand Alcohol Peer Support Worker, Community Drug and Alcohol Services will provide guidance and Peer Support to other Drug and Alcohol Peer Support Workers in Community Drug and Alcohol services.
This will include role modelling professional practice standards, providing individual and group supervision, identifying professional development needs and delivering workplace education as required. The position will also utilise a portion of their time to deliver Peer Support which is recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, person-centred and in line with best practice principles, to people accessing Community Drug and Alcohol services, with a focus on people who are accessing services that do not currently have a dedicated Drug and Alcohol Peer Support Worker employed.
Due to the geographical spread of Community Drug and Alcohol services across the Murrumbidgee region, it is expected that some of this direct Peer Support will be delivered via Telehealth or outreach.
The position will be operationally managed by the Deputy District Manager Community Mental Health Drug and Alcohol and be part of the MLHD MHDA Clinical Leadership group.
As a key part of their role, they will also and work closely with the Coordinator Consumer Participation Strategy, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol services to participate in peer mentoring and undertake activities to inform the strategic development of the MLHD Lived Experience Peer Workforce.
