About the role
Under the delegation and supervision of the NUM the Senior Early Parenting Practitioner provides support and education to Early Parenting Practitioners and families based on the Early Parenting Centre model of care.

They will support the Nurse Unit Manager to design, implement and deliver programs tailored for parents of children aged 0-4 years of age, who require education and support during periods of vulnerability. They promote positive health, growth, development and wellbeing in infants, children and families, and recognise and respond to factors that impede this.

The SEPP strives to embed and maintain a culture of learning and continuous improvement at the GEPC. They will provide guidance to the EPP workforce within their scope of practice and are expected to contribute quality processes. The SEPP will be involved in the development and facilitation of group activities for inpatients and members of the community seeking advice, additional support and provide case consults for external organisations.

The program has a strong focus on family/child/patient centred care and the SEPP demonstrates this along with an ability to work within our organisational values.

Skills and Experience

  • Under the delegation and supervision of the NUM or ANUM/AMUM in charge of the shift provide leadership and coaching to the EPP team consistent with the implementation of the EPC model of care within scope of practice
  • Support, guide and educate Early Parenting Practitioners on the EPC model of care
  • Make clinical decisions based on advanced knowledge and experience in the area of early childhood health, wellbeing and development
  • Within scope of practice, apply expert knowledge to practice, evaluate services and actively seek opportunities for improvement
  • Conduct assessments based on family needs and collaborate with internal/external stakeholders as required
  • Work inclusive and effectively with every family, child, community and colleague by acknowledging and respecting their diversity and individuality
