About the Team & the PositionThe Operational DER (Distributed Energy Resources) Management team, within AEMO Operations, is responsible for integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) into AEMO’s operational and technical functions. This includes analysing DER behaviours, developing suitable power system models to represent the behaviour of DER during power system disturbances, applying these models to determine the impact of DER on power system security, and implementing the required management measures in AEMO’s operational systems.
Position Responsibilities- Quantitative analysis to understand DER behaviours.
- Complex problem solving to determine how to integrate DER into AEMO systems and processes.
- Development and application of improved tools and models for analysis of DER
- Liaising with stakeholders determining the causes of observed behaviours and possible management measures.
- Develop suitable management approaches for any identified impacts of DER on system security.
- Draft reports and presentations that summarize findings, suitable for internal and external circulation.
- Working as part of a cohesive and collaborative team Collaborate and liaise with other AEMO teams and external stakeholders (such as network service providers and original equipment manufacturers) on DER integration.
Skills & Experience:
- Quantitative analysis and modelling skills
- Complex problem solving and critical thinking
- Data science and data analysis skills, particularly working with large, complex and messy datasets
- Programming skills and experience, particularly in R, Python, Grafana, or similar
- Experience working with power system datasets, such as PMU and waveform data, interval data from DER devices, AMI data, etc.
- Experience working with power system models such as PSSE, PSCAD, PowerFactory or similar is a benefit
- Knowledge of NEM systems and processes
- Ability to prepare high quality reports and summaries of analysis
Education/ professional Certifications: Tertiary qualification in electrical engineering, data science, or similar with a power system focus and more than 6 years experience in power system analysis or a related field. In return, some of our benefits to you include:
