Senior Engineer - Ventilation And Mine Services

Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)
Roster: 5/2 or 4/3. Adelaide office based with trips to site
Department: Mine Technical and Technology
Manager: Principal Ventilation

The position is responsible for:

• The Carrapateena long term ventilation, dewatering, and compressed air model for the Carrapateena asset and associates long term mining plan.
• Mine ventilation services design, plan, logistics, budgeting, and scheduling to an execution design level.
• Assist in the creation of management plans and appropriate governance documentation, aligned with the long term min plan.
• Develop and support innovation and development project into all aspects of mine Ventilation and services engineering, with the aim of improving value for our stakeholders, through risk mitigation and process optimisation.
• Engaging and aligning with stakeholders (internal & external to Mine Technical & Technology).
• Liaise and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to further develop Mine Services plan levering innovation to maximise return on investment.
• Communicate with all key stakeholders regarding current and future mine Ventilation and services plans.
• Assisting in the development of future workforce initiatives, including mentoring of internal engineers and external students.

You will have:

• Extensive experience in hard rock mining engineering
• Education and qualification in mining engineering or equivalent.
• Experience using underground mining software:

• Deswik
• Ventsim
• Pumpsim

• Experience in mine Ventilation and services design and planning
• Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Well developed skills in Microsoft office suite.

Desirable:

• Experience in underground cave mining (SLC and/or Block Cave)
• Experience using Pumpsim for dewatering and compressed air design.
• Experience with Ventsim fire modelling.
• Experience with emergency response.
• Experience in project scheduling.
• Experience with underground power reticulation.
• Experience in project scheduling.
• Experience with underground power reticulation.
