Senior Environmental Officer 

  • Temporary full time, 35 hours per week
  • Salary range from $104,038.78 - 112,616.38 per year depending on skills and experience + 11% super
  • Award & Super increase from July 2024

This role sits within the City Development Team, who is focused on the preparation, assessment and delivery of planning outcomes within the Campbelltown LGA. The position working within a multidisciplinary team to support the planning outcomes while protecting the environment and health of the community.

Council is experiencing significant change and growth, so the successful candidate will need to be flexible, solutions focused and abreast of current legislation.

About the role: 

We are currently seeking a Senior Environment Officer for a temporary parental leave contract of up to 12 months. In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Assessing compliance of development applications, planning proposals and vegetation permits with State and Local polices
  • Review flora and fauna assessments, biodiversity development assessment reports, aboricultural impact assessment, Koala assessment report, contamination and noise assessments.
  • Project manage the preparation of environmental studies, project and/or policies.
  • Undertake research on environmental planning and policy matters
  • Ability to deal effectively with people at all levels and to represent Council capably to developers, consultants, other government agencies and the general public.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • Degree in Environmental Management, Science or equivalent.
  • Post Graduate qualifications or experience in one of more of the following: Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Accredited BAM Assessor (or capable of achieving accreditation.
  • Demonstrated experience in the review of relevant environment reports relating to Planning Proposals and Development Applications.
  • Experience in the application of relevant local, state and federal legislation.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
