About the role
BMD is in a significant growth phase in Adelaide with a strong pipeline of projects in hand and as a result, we are looking for a Senior Estimator to price a range of diverse commercial projects starting from $20 million in value. With access to best in industry systems and software tools, you will collaborate with pre-contract teams and deliver exceptional winning civil infrastructure and urban development bids across Australia.
This role will be based in our Wayville Office in Adelaide, estimating projects in commercial builds and defence contracts. General responsibilities include but are not limited to the following;
- Review project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to understand project requirements.
- Conduct material take-offs to determine the quantities of materials required.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labour, materials, plant, and subcontractor services.
- Obtain and analyse quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving measures.
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and tender documents.
- Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and construction methodologies
- Regular site visits to tendered and live project sites
- Actively engage and build relationships with key supplier and subcontractors.
Skills & Experience
- 8+ years’ experience in the Civil Construction industry in estimating
- A mix of project and estimating experience is ideal
- First principle estimating experience
- Experience with the development of subcontractor work packages and review
- Exposure to Expert Estimation is desirable
