About The Role
An opportunity exists for a Senior Geologist based in Adelaide to join our exploration team. Our team is actively searching for new opportunities for the discovery and development of heavy minerals (HM) and rare earth deposits to deliver sustainable value to our shareholders.
Reporting to the Principal Geologist, you will play a key role in safely and effectively delivering our greenfields and resource definition programs and providing guidance and leadership to a small team of early-career Geologists.
The successful candidate will be required to work extended periods on a campaign basis in remote locations.
Key responsibilities:
Demonstrate a strong focus on Health, Safety and the Environment (EHS)
Lead and manage small teams in the safe and effective execution of field programs
Utilise, and promote the Iluka Discovery System tools and principles to achieve discovery
Apply a skilled technical capability to conceptualise and generate (and test/evaluate) HM and rare earth targets through seeking, analysing and interpreting geological data
Employ modern exploration and geophysical methods, develop innovative approaches to progress targets from conceptual ideas to discovery
Collaborate and seek feedback from experts to further develop and progress exploration targets, and feedback learning to the Exploration team
Manage, lead and inspire geologists to generate, prioritise and test opportunities
About You
To be successful for this role, you will have:
A degree in Geology or equivalent
Proven direct exploration experience ideally across a range of commodities
Experience in GIS software packages such as Arc GIS
Experience in the application of modern geophysical techniques and interpretation
The ability to demonstrate strong leadership and collaboration skills
The ability to challenge the status quo and apply creative solutions
Experience with permitting and government approvals process
Whilst not essential, previous experience in sedimentary environments would be highly regarded.
