Seeking a motivated person to join a successful stud cattle and fodder cropping enterprise situated on the Qld/NSW border.
About
Operating a cattle stud and irrigated fodder cropping and hay production property on 5000 acres on the picturesque Dumaresq River near Texas Qld.
An on property bull sale is held annually. A small sheep flock is also run.
We are seeking a motivated individual with the necessary skills to add value and to expand the existing business.
Role
The successful applicants primary role will be the fodder cropping, hay making and irrigation part of the enterprise. As well as assisting the owner with mustering, livestock husbandry, breeding programs and sale bull preparation. All hay is baled by a local contractor in large 8x4x3 bales.
Duties
- Operation of a tractor fitted with GPS for spraying, cultivation, planting, hay raking
- Irrigation scheduling of the 3 centre pivot irrigators
- Assisting with AI breeding programs, bull testing etc
- Mustering
- Feeding livestock
- Dozer(D5) operation
- Fencing
- Property development and pasture improvement
- Telehandler operation
- Loading hay trucks and carting hay from paddock to sheds
Skills
- Work independently or as part of a team
- Previous cropping and livestock experience
- Machinery operation
- Mechanical aptitude
- Welding and fabrication
- Irrigation and centre experience desirable but not essential
- HR licence
