About the Unit
The Yara Pilbara Fertilisers' plant is one of the largest ammonia production sites in the world and we have also taken the ammonia process further downstream with the Yara Pilbara Nitrates Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) plant, a joint venture with Orica. Together with ENGIE, Yara Pilbara will also build a renewable hydrogen plant to produce renewable ammonia.

Yara are seeking applications for their permanent role of Senior Financial Accountant. Reporting to the Team Lead - Financial Reporting & Controls, the Senior Financial Accountant is expected to be a proactive and inquisitive self-starter, demonstrating passion for process improvement.
This role is a vital member of the Finance team, dedicated to ensuring the delivery of accurate financial information, on a timely basis, to support the business and our business partners in effective decision making, while maintaining our license to operate through compliance to all regulatory requirements.
Integral to the month-end and quarter-end close processes, the Senior Financial Accountant will place a significant emphasis on implementing controls required by the group.
Beyond routine responsibilities, the role involves identifying and implementing improvement and optimization projects, contributing valuable insights into our business operations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a prerequisite, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; experience with SAP highly desirable. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational and time management abilities, capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. We are seeking an individual who thinks innovatively and embraces a can-do attitude, with a keen interest in leveraging digital tools to advance financial processes.
The Senior Financial Accountant will:
- Technical and complex accounting: Responsible for researching and writing technical accounting papers where required, detailing the assessment of the relevant accounting standards and impact to the business. Responsible for the accounting for certain more complex and technical items affecting the Pilbara businesses on a regular basis.
- Statutory Reporting: Prepare and manage the completion of the general purpose consolidated financial statements for the Yara Australia Group and standalone statutory for Yara Pilbara Nitrates joint operation, in compliance with IFRS.
- Business Partnering: Partnering with contacts across the business, including Karratha site-based personnel to ensure finance are informed of changes in the business and that they are accurately reflected in reported results, and to support other functions as required.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency of financial operations. Proactively seek ways to streamline processes and increase accuracy.

Profile
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Finance or Accounting
- Completed professional accounting qualification (CA/CPA/ACCA)
- Good knowledge of IFRS accounting regulations and reporting standards
- Working as part of a team, proactively implementing process improvements
- Experience working with SAP is highly desirable
- Prior experience working in accounting firm is highly preferred
- Strong drive and "can do" attitude with the ability to challenge established practices and processes when required and with a passion to make a difference in operational excellence in our plants
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build strong relationships, resolve conflicts, and communicate effectively
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and work effectively under pressure
- Fluent verbal and written English is essential
