About the Role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Financial Analyst to join the Santos team based at our global headquarters in Adelaide.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position is responsible for a broad range of accounting and reporting deliverables, including reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting and financial analysis for the Santos Energy Solutions “SES” division. SES is an exciting area of the business, focussed on the delivery of a range of carbon solution projects for the Group, and attainment of its Net Zero 2040 Vision.
We are looking for a candidates with strong problem solving and analytical skills, who can partner with the business to set-up and deliver new business processes, and are seeking to be challenged.
Key Accountabilities:
- Management Reporting & Financial Analysis: Preparation of month-end reports on key metrics and delivery to key stakeholders, and conduct in-depth financial analysis, including but not limited to, financial modelling, variance analysis, and trend forecasting to support decision-making processes
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, working collaboratively with department heads to ensure accuracy and alignment with strategic goals
- Functional Support: Act as a financial partner to specific business functions or departments, providing guidance, insights, and support to facilitate effective financial management
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimisation within financial processes and systems, driving efficiency and effectiveness across the organisation
- Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports and dashboards to senior management, highlighting key insights and recommendations for action
- Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and accounting standards, maintaining the integrity and accuracy of financial data
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation, fostering collaboration and communication to achieve shared financial objectives
- Assist with preparation of annual and half year subsidiary Financial Statements
- Provide responses to audit queries in relation to area supported
- Provide ASX reporting information to Investor Relations
- Provide support to wider Group Finance team as required
About you
Holding a Bachelors level qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or an equivalent field, as well as Professional certification (ICAA, CPA or equivalent), the ideal candidate will possess significant experience in financial analysis or related roles, preferably within the energy industry or a similar sector. You will demonstrate excellent SAP Finance system knowledge, along with proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis tools and advanced level skills with Microsoft Excel.
This role will suit an agile and adaptable professional, who thrives in a varied and dynamic environment. If you enjoy being involved in setting up new processes, with a focus on ‘future state’ as opposed to the ‘status quo’ this could be the role for you!
