The Geological Survey of NSW (part of Mining, Exploration and Geoscience) are looking for their next Senior Geophysicist to join the team.
As the Senior Geophysicist you’ll be part of a small team undertaking the acquisition, modelling, interpretation, archive, and delivery of geophysical data in NSW.
This position will be responsible for:
- QA/QC of incoming data.
- Maintenance of large geophysical databases.
- Production of statewide geophysical merges and derivative products.
- Acquisition of large-scale geophysics programs and geophysical modelling to value add to our data and support both internal and external stakeholders.
We’re looking for someone who can:
- Undertake the acquisition of geophysical surveys in compliance with NSW government procurement rules and NSW environmental and land-access regulations.
- Implement best practice geophysical data repositories, data cataloguing and data delivery systems.
- Ensure high quality data is quality-assured, catalogued and archived so it can be readily searched and discovered by internal and external stakeholders.
- Produce and maintain statewide geophysics merges and derivative products.
- Undertake geophysical modelling of complex geological scenarios to deliver geological synthesis results for tight project schedules.
A degree in geophysics or equivalent with honours and/or post graduate qualifications is also an essential requirement of the role.
