About the role
We are now recruiting a Hydrographer / Senior Hydrographer to coordinate with a broader team on Surface and groundwater monitoring activities, perform stream gauging, groundwater sampling, download and calibrate monitoring instrumentation and water quality sampling. Dependant on the applicants experience with support from the Regional Manager you will either manage a small team of hydrographers or form part of that team.
This is a permanent full-time role & is largely fieldwork which includes, working in water, working from boats, 4WDi’ng and working in remote areas. This role is based in Tatura Vic. The work involves working alone and part of a team across locations in Northern Vic and southern NSW. The successful applicant will be required to stay away overnight from time to time.

What you’ll do:
- Field water quality sample collection from mainly groundwater monitoring bores.
- Report creating and tracking & assisting with reporting updates.
- Undertaking environmental data collection activities for both surface & groundwaters using specialist software packages and scientific instruments,
- Servicing, calibrating and maintaining onsite monitoring equipment and associated sensors
- Undertaking maintenance and new works installations
What you’ll need
- Hydrographic qualification or similar qualification / experience
- Ability to manage a team or form part of a team dependant on your experience and qualifications.
- Experienced in using software tool Hydstra
- Proficient in the use of hand, power, and pneumatic tools or willingness to learn.
- A proactive mindset, able to work both independently and co-operatively,
- Able to work in very remote locations with extended overnight stays.
- Physically fit with an affinity for working outdoors
- Electronics / mechanical aptitude
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Driver’s License
