The Department employsapproximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisonsand fifteen Community Correctional offices across the state. Ourvision is for a safer community by protecting the public andreducing re-offending. Duties
The SeniorInformation Release Officer is accountable to the Manager Freedomof Information and Stakeholder Services and is responsiblefor;
- Processing Freedom of Information (FOi) applications, including Internal Reviews and External Reviews, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1991.
- Facilitating and meeting the department's responsibilities under the Freedom of Information Act 1991, Correctional Services Act 1982, Information Privacy Principals, government circulars, court orders and associated legislation.
- Supervising staff in the processing of Release of Information (ROI) and Freedom of Information (FOi) requests consistent with legislative requirements.
- Providing expert advice to a range of internal and external stakeholders while ensuring legislative, recording, and reporting requirements are met and undertaking research, policy and project work when required.
SpecialConditions
- Section 4 7 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in conjunction with other provisions of the act and other applicable industrial entitlements.
- The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National Criminal History Check.
- A current South Australian Drivers Licence is essential.
- A flexible approach to working hours is required.
- Some interstate and intrastate travel will be required which may necessitate overnight absences.
- Entry to secure facilities (e.g. prisons) and contact with prisoners and community based offenders is required.
