Senior Inspector - Real Estate and Property
We have an exciting opportunity for experienced Inspector/Investigator to join the Property Inspectorate Team, Investigations & Enforcement within NSW Fair Trading on an ongoing basis.
Grade: Clerk grade 7/8 (Salary $101,947 - $112,849 + super) + leave loading + accrued flex leave
Duration: Permanent ongoing
Location: Parramatta (Hybrid working arrangements - home/office available)

This team plays a key part in in regulating the Real Estate, Retirement Villages, Residential Parks Strata Communities and Short-Term Leasing industries in NSW. It conducts rolling compliance activities to ensure the integrity of the licensing provisions and requirements of various NSW legislation administered by Fair Trading. Including investigations of consumer complaints, and proactive targeted inspection programs to test compliance with legislation and to monitoring industry trends and practices.
What we are looking for
Investigators with exceptional skills that are focus on detail, are analytical, problem-solving skills, and who enjoys a cohesive team environment. You will have investigations experience in undertaking field based compliance activities, with the ability to make sound judgments. You will have the confidence to make determinations relating to enforcement actions, including, but not limited to, the issuing warning letters, on-the-spot penalty infringement notices and associated evidence gathering skills to support your compliance outcomes. You will possess the knowledge and skills to support the preparation of briefs of evidence for presentation at court when necessary.
You will have high-level oral and written communication skills and experience in collating evidence, statements and recording observations and admissions with the ability to negotiate positive outcomes with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will have the capacity to provide mentoring to staff and prepare, present and review evidence, reports and submissions to make appropriate recommendations. Essential requirements
- Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or equivalent or preparedness to undertake an identical employer sponsored program.
- Demonstrated knowledge of formal conduct of investigations, evidence gathering and review process.
- Demonstrated experience in providing coaching and mentoring of team members in order to achieve business outcomes.
- Current NSW driver's license and the ability and willingness to travel throughout the state on a regular basis as required.
