About the position
The Senior Designer role at our Gold Coast studio involves a unique blend of creative, technical, leadership, communication, and management skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality projects within specified constraints, contributing to the studio's reputation for excellence.
- Lead, manage, and oversee all projects assigned by Directors and Associates, ensuring proactive and dynamic engagement with clients and design teams.
- Work on large- and small-scale lighting projects across diverse sectors, both locally and internationally.
- Manage ongoing rollout projects as required by senior management.
- Prepare detailed specifications and costings for assigned lighting projects.
- Liaise with manufacturers on specifications and pricing and negotiate improved margins to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Mentor and develop design team members, providing technical guidance and support in lighting design principles and practices.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, interior designers, consultants, and developers to ensure smooth project execution.
- Identify new business opportunities and generate revenue through proactive client engagement, networking, and showcasing the studio's expertise.
- Design and develop bespoke lighting fittings and specials for projects, ensuring client sign-off on all drawings prior to manufacture.
- Continually develop relationships and procedures with existing and new manufacturers and suppliers for bespoke lighting fittings.
- Ensure client satisfaction and deliver creative lighting designs within budget and on schedule.
What you bring
- Minimum 3 to 4 years Lighting Design experience
- Registration with International Lighting organization such as CIBSE and IES is highly regarded
- Prior experience in mentoring and providing technical guidance to a team of Lighting Designers
- Education in Architecture, Lighting Design, Interior Design or Product Design
- High level of proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, AutoCAD and Dialux
- Open to travel (Domestic and International) as projects require (must have current passport)
- Must have valid working rights in Australia (Valid Work Visa, Permanent Resident OR Citizen)
- Must be based in Gold Coast OR open to relocate to Gold Coast
- Fluent capable to communicate in English
