The Role:
 
We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, livestock-focused person to join this innovative and progressive enterprise as a Senior Livestock Person. This role will report directly to the Farm Manager. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills and will have demonstrated a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar middle management mixed farming role.
 
We seek an enthusiastic, energetic, career-driven, livestock-focused person to apply for this role. As you will be dealing with large numbers of stock, someone with previous experience in a similar role and their own team of handy working dogs will be highly regarded. You will assist with infrastructure developments, machinery operation, weed management and water and property maintenance. 
 
You will have the opportunity to take your knowledge and passion for the industry to the next level with ongoing support and training from the team. Ultimately, you will thrive and assist with the responsibility to drive the property's success.
 
Day-to-day duties will include but are not limited to:
  • All aspects of Cattle husbandry
  • Animal health management
  • Assist with AI program and Pregnancy Testing
  • Assist with pasture management and improvements.
  • Operation of farm machinery
  • General farm and property maintenance 
  • Involvement in any on-farm improvements
 
The Property & Employer: 
 
The property is located in North Central Victoria, spreading across 10,000 acres of rolling hills, irrigated river flats and high country; the property has so much to offer, with both stud and commercial cows making up a breeding herd of approximately 2,000 spring drop cows.  
 
They take pride in their facilities and infrastructure, including undercover, fully automated Pro-way yards, new fencing throughout the property, well-maintained internal roads, on-property weaner feedlot, ample HR water rights, as well as kilometres of Goulburn River Frontage throughout the Farm. Utilising modern machinery, technology and Can-Ams for stock movements, they are industry leaders. 
 
The successful candidate will assist the Farm Manager and work alongside the Livestock manager and various contractors, including the fencing team, gardeners, and heavy machinery operators.  
 
The offer:
 
Along with the opportunity to live, work and play on a beautiful property, the successful candidate will receive a generous remuneration package, which will be negotiated depending on the successful applicant's skillset, plus benefits/bonuses of up to $30,000. As well as a modern 3-bedroom cottage with a newly added parents' retreat, work vehicle, phone allowance, amenities and StarLink internet. 
 
The property is centrally located 15 minutes from Yea, and half an hour from Seymour, which hosts shops, schools, sporting facilities, and bus stops at the end of the driveway. Larnoo is proud to be part of the local community. 
 
The Ideal Candidate:
 
The ideal candidate is someone who. 
 
  • Is passionate about beef cattle farming.
  • Prioritises animal health and low-stress stock handling. 
  • Can demonstrate initiative and good time management skills. 
  • Can demonstrate working well in a team environment and autonomously.
  • Has tidy living habits. 
 
The following skills are highly regarded.
 
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • A team of going working dogs 
  • Those willing to obtain Training in farm safety.
  • Experience using MaiaGrazing or similar (advantageous) 
  • A driver's license (essential) 
  • Truck license (or willing to obtain) 
  • Firearms license (or willing to obtain)
