About the role

Senior Makerspace Technicians are experienced professionals who play a vital role in producing prototypes for Breville's Global Product Team. They assist in overseeing workshop operations and mentoring junior technicians and the Design and Engineering teams. They possess a deeper understanding of technical processes, are often well-versed in a wide range of machinery and processes and take on more complex tasks. The role is an onsite, hands-on and based in Breville's R&D Global Headquarters in Sydney.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Safely operating a variety of workshop machinery including;
    • CNC Milling Machines,
    • CNC Lathes,
    • Manual Milling Machines,
    • Manual Lathes,
    • Welding equipment,
    • Bandsaws,
    • Metal Benders and Rollers,
    • Spray Painting Equipment and
    • Advanced Additive Manufacturing equipment.
  • Producing parts and assemblies to specification and within project timelines.
  • Perform advanced technical tasks and diagnostics.
  • Maintain and repair equipment, machinery and chemical inventory.
  • Follow, and enforce, safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Train & assess other members of the team for technical competence.
  • Deliver training workshops and skill sharing sessions
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Work collaboratively with team members
  • Set up, operate and maintain CNC machines unsupervised.

We're Interested in Hearing from People Who Have:

  • Trade qualified with several years post-apprenticeship experience in machine or model-making shops
  • The ability to operate and program CNC machining centres, CNC lathes and CNC milling machines.
  • The ability to program a multi-axis CNC Lathe with Fanuc controls a definite advantage.
  • The ability to read workshop drawings and understand engineering drawings.
  • Experience using Mastercam.
  • The ability to use manual lathe and manual milling machine.
  • The ability to safely use general workshop equipment.
  • Experience in welding, TIG & MIG would be advantageous.
  • Experience using and maintaining 3D Printers.
  • Demonstrated a reliable, enthusiastic to work.
