Visit www.nyrstar.com Overview of the role An exciting opportunity is now open for a Senior Metallurgist to join the Technical Projects team. With your technical knowledge of Nyrstar Port Pirie's pyro and hydrometallurgical processes (or other similar plant) you will be called upon as a subject matter expert in a variety of situations to manage and champion technical studies, assist with more larger complex projects and work as a consultant to give robust, practical and problem solving advice to the operations when required. Your experience will enable you to identify areas of technical improvements and provide solutions to processing/metallurgical problems within the plants and for the portfolio of projects. This is a site-wide role that encompasses the entire operations, therefore the successful incumbent must have a knowledge of the entire site operations and interactions between the plants, or the ability to quickly learn and understand. To be successful in this role you will have a desire and demonstrated ability to positively engage with key stakeholders, analyse data and problem solve to implement improvement initiatives and de-bottleneck the plant. This is a residential role, based in Port Pirie, South Australia on a Monday to Friday roster. Relocation assistance will be provided to the successful candidate if required. Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to: Provide technical advice based on sound literature, data, logic and process knowledge Manage studies and projects through the concept, feasibility and commissioning stages as identified through the Tactical Plan Collaborate with senior personnel in the plant to ensure the projects are completed within agreed timeframes and budgets and to agreed expectations Develop business cases and concepts for future developments to debottleneck the site Commission Pilot/trial strategic projects with the operational Principal/Senior Metallurgists Qualifications/Experience & Abilities: Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy or similar are essential 5+ years in a hands-on plant based Chemical Engineering role Experience in a similar project role is highly regarded Superior skill with Microsoft Excel is essential Experience in the mining / resources industry or chemical production facilities is highly regarded What does working for Nyrstar mean?
