The primary purpose of this position is to perform microbiological tests on raw materials and finished products. This position also requires assisting the factory with expertise troubleshooting of microbiological issues where required. This position is within the Quality team, located in Dandenong South and reporting directly to the Quality Manager.
Responsibilities
- Perform microbiological tests on raw materials and finished products.
- Manages, develops and leads all functions in relation to the micro laboratory.
- Responsible for internal and external samples.
- Responsible for communicating with all external bodies.
- Maintain microbiological test data.
- Maintain environmental monitoring program and data.
- Coordinate the calibration of equipment used in the micro laboratory.
- Provide all QC test data accurately and consistently in a set timeframe to prevent any delays for production and customers.
- Partake in sensory evaluation of products (all meats, seafood, alcohol, chemicals and sugar based materials).
- Provide technical support to the Quality Manager in internal audits including research and product improvement projects as per the GMP guidelines.
- Provide backup for the QC team.
To be successful in this role you will need to have:
- Minimum 3 years experience in microbiology lab and food industry
- Bachelor degree in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science or Food Technology
- Knowledgeable in food safety, raw materials, food regulations, sanitation and production processes
