ABOUTGEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world's manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a permanent position on a 7:7 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.

As the Senior Mine Geologist, you will be in a leadership role with a focus on developing team culture, capability and implementing step-change improvement initiatives within all aspects of the mine geology value chain.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

• Develop and/or update short term geological models and forecasts to enable sustainable delivery of the full year forecast and GEMCO budget
• Ensure effective ore loss and dilution controls are in place and that these metrics are being measured
• Develop and supervise ore blending and stockpiling procedures to optimise plant performance and meet budgeted product volumes
• Develop and supervise product blending and ship loading processes to ensure finished stocks are in line with quality specifications

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• A commitment to safety and continuous improvement
• Significant experience in mining operational and planning roles
• Track record of successfully delivering outcomes that consistently meet or exceed targets
• Advanced geological modelling skills, preferably Vulcan and Leapfrog
• Previous experience working in a leadership role

Qualifications for this position are:

• Tertiary qualification / Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geoscience, or relevant discipline
• Full Drivers' Licence
