We are now accepting applications for a positive, forward thinking Senior Network Engineer based in Adelaide, Canberra or Melbourne.Reporting to the Infrastructure & Platforms Manager and as a key member of the Infrastructure & Platforms team, you will have a focus on providing high level technical networking support services to ensure QinetiQ's networking environments are secure, reliable, supported and maintained.As Senior Network Engineer you will be accountable for:
- Installing, configuring, supporting and managing the lifecycle of various network equipment and devices such as Switches, Firewalls, WAPs, etc.
- Service Ownership of assigned QinetiQ Network Services
- Establishing key network performance indicators and ensuring they are monitored to ensure network availability and reliability
- Coordinating the allocation of IP addressing, subnets, IP pools and VLAN allocations
- Managing the operational integrity of QinetiQ's IT networking infrastructures, ensuring availability, integrity and security
- Supporting IT Leadership with communication to business in regards to service availability, incidents and change
- Assume leadership responsibilities within the infrastructure & Platforms team, when the Manager is away or on leave
- Planning and executing network related maintenance and system upgrades including patches, hot fixes and security configuration
- Actively contributing to the definition, development and maintenance of network policies, procedures and standards
- Conducting periodic reviews and audits across all key networking systems and devices
- Seasoned experience in a similar IT Network Administration/Engineering role
- A Strong and diverse set of IT technical skills within the Networking domain
- Proven experience in the planning, design, development and implementation of major/complex IT network infrastructures
- A strong understanding of network security principles with experience in implementing security measures
- Deep understanding and knowledge of networking protocols (e.g. IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, Qos, DNS)
- Deep understanding and knowledge of network capability and concepts such as SDWAN, Wireless Networking, VLANS, Network Access Control, Load Balancing, VPNs etc.
- Working knowledge/understanding of ITIL principles
- Experience working within compliance frameworks such as UK's Cyber essentials (Plus), Australia's ISM, NIST, ISO27001, ITAR and export control
