The Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce (VACC) is an automotive industry employer association that protects and promotes the interests of its members through advocacy initiatives and the provision of automotive industry products and services.
Founded in 1918, VACC provides its members with access to a suite of support measures that assist them in running modern automotive businesses. These include access to subsidised technical information, automotive-specific human resources advice and assistance, workplace relations, OHSE training and compliance. VACC also employs more than 500 automotive apprentices and places them with host employers.
VACC’s national commercial arm, OurAuto, offers business insurance, website development and digital marketing solutions, technical information and tools, and business consumables.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior OHSE Advisor will work within the OHSE Unit as part of VACC’s Workplace Relations team. The role will have responsibility for providing a range of OHS, Workers Compensation and Environmental support to VACC members.
This role comes with a fully maintained branded company vehicle, laptop and mobile phone.
ABOUT YOU
In order to be successful in this role you need to hold a Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
You will also be a clear communicator with good written and verbal communication skills, and have a passion for helping people succeed and building relationships through trust and respect. You'll need to be self-motivated, level-headed, highly organised and enjoy achieving results.
The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate experience and competency in the following areas:
- Providing support, coordination and advice of OHSE practices, systems and procedures within a defined workplace
- Qualified with 5+ years’ experience in conducting and sign-off on OHSE audits and inspections
- Experience in conducting environmental audits and inspections
- Experience in managing workers compensation claims
- Identify hazards and practical remedies with the member business
- Administer education and compliance programs
- Provide telephone support and advice to member businesses on a range of safety matters
- Develop safety guidance material
- Development of OHSE policies
- Represent VACC in industry stakeholder meetings.

This is an autonomous role working within an OHSE Unit comprising one other Senior OHSE Advisor, supported by the Executive Manager – Workplace Relations.
