If you answered yes to these questions, then this could be an opportunity for you. We are looking for a Senior Payroll Analyst to join a state government department for a minimum of 6 months to work through a large and complex salary overpayment project.
Your new role
As a Senior Payroll Analyst, you will be responsible for:
- Analysing the department's salary overpayments ledger and the current status of debts
- Working with internal and external stakeholders (including People and Culture, Shared Service and the Fines Enforcement and Recovery Unit) to progress matters to resolution
- Preparing briefings and high level reports for senior executives identifying trends, risks and opportunities
- Developing and implementing strategies and policies to prevent and recover salary overpayments
- Providing advice and guidance to staff and managers on salary overpayment matters
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Demonstrated experience with complex payroll issues, analysis and reporting on financial data
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders and influence outcomes
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures relating to salary overpayments
- Experience of working in the public sector or a large and complex organisation
