Cygnet Bay Pearls is looking for a Master 5 with MED2

Are you a maritime professional passionate about working on the stunning waters of Western Australia? Cygnet Bay Pearls is seeking an experienced and dedicated Master 5 with Marine Engine Driver (MED) qualifications for a casual position at our Broome Pearl Farm.

Cygnet Bay Pearls is a pioneer in the Australian pearling industry, renowned for producing some of the world’s finest South Sea pearls. Situated in the beautiful Kimberley region, with Pearl Farms located at both Cygnet Bay and near Broome, offers a unique opportunity to be part of our rich tradition in breathtaking environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate and navigate company vessels in accordance with maritime regulations and company standards.
  • Ensure the maintenance and efficient operation of engines and on-board systems.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance to ensure vessel readiness and safety.
  • Assist with Pearl Farming operations including the deployment and retrieval of pearl shell, pearl lines & their peripheral infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with the Pearl Farm’s senior staff and Pearl Farm Skippers to support all aquaculture activities.
  • Working with the dive operations as required.
  • Liaise with remote shore-based Administration Team.
Required Qualifications:
  • Master 5 Ticket
  • Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 or higher certificate.
  • Senior Fist Aid & CPR
  • Experience in vessel operation and maintenance and record keeping.
  • Strong understanding of maritime safety and regulatory compliance.
  • The ability to manage a small team, provide instruction and train new crew where necessary. 
Desirable but not Essential 
  • Ability to work in remote locations and variable weather conditions.
  • Previous experience in the aquaculture industry.
  • PADI dive experience
