As part of our assessments and permissions team, you would be working to protect the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park whilst providing for a range of sustainable user experiences varying from tourism, education, research, facilities and monitoring.
You will undertake the assessment of permit applications in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and guidelines; make recommendations; and provide advice on permissions and related conditions. You will be responsible for a range of moderately complex tasks with a key focus on taking a risk-based approach to impact assessments, including recommending mitigation and management for proposed activities and provision of post-permit advice.

Duties: * Apply working knowledge, precedent and established legislation, policy, procedures and guidelines to manage, prepare and coordinate moderately complex environmental impact assessments and marine park permits relating to activities in the GBRMP including:
- Provision of specialist and technical advice that is informed, timely, practical, transparent and risk-based.
- Research, interpretation and application of legislation in complex and/or sensitive situations.
- Preparing briefing material and analytical reports.
- Exercising delegations appropriately in relation to permit processes and decisions.
- Build and sustain collaborative relationships, consult and partner with internal and external stakeholders on issues relating to environmental impact assessment and management within or adjacent to the Marine Park.
- Contribute to the development of policies and processes to streamline decision-making, improve regulatory practice, and drive continuous improvement in the delivery of permissions systems decisions.
- Mentor and guide Permit Assessors within the broader team.
