In the role of Senior Planner, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting the long-term development of Queensland's ports under the Transport Infrastructure Act 1994 and the Sustainable Ports Development Act 2015. In this role you will provide planning advice for the development and implementation of port master plans and port overlays for the priority ports of Gladstone, Townsville, Hay Point/Mackay and Abbot Point. You will also provide advice in relation to planning documents including port land use and strategic plans and other policy related documents as required.
Accountabilities include:
- Utilise knowledge and experience of regulatory frameworks and policy implementation to assist with the development and implementation of master planning solutions for Queensland's priority ports of Gladstone, Hay Point/Mackay, Townsville and Abbot Point.
- Provide guidance to Queensland Port Authorities in the preparation of Land Use Plans and Strategic Plans.
- Working with team members and internal and external stakeholders to develop strategic policy directions for sustainable, efficient and integrated port operation and development in Queensland.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of legislation, strategic transport policies, plans and strategies, across a range of issues relating to an integrated transport system ensuring consistency with sustainable, efficient and integrated port operations.
- Undertake high level research and analysis and develop solutions to deliver planning advice for Queensland's ports and improved economic, social, environmental and infrastructure outcomes.
- Apply specialist knowledge and expertise to participate in consultation and negotiation activities for the development and implementation of port master planning and port land use plans across a diverse range of stakeholder groups.
- Prepare complex, well researched and comprehensive documents for planning, including policy papers (where required), guidelines, mapping, briefs, reports, implementation plans and submissions.
- Foster collaborative relationships with team members and external stakeholders to ensure delivery of master plans and implementation of port overlays for Queensland's Priority Ports.
- Assist with departmental representation at meetings, conferences, forums and committees on complex port master planning policy and implementation issues.
- Actively participate in performance conversations to build and support a culture of performance improvement.
