About the Role:
The Intergovernmental Relations Directorate are establishing a pool of Senior Policy Advisors / Policy and Project Leads join the team on a temporary basis (up to 12 months).
The Intergovernmental Relations Directorate develops and coordinates whole-of-agency positions and policies on state and national matters, ensuring consistency across the Department for Education and effective prioritisation of key initiatives. The team leads the delivery of critical and strategic policy reform relating to intergovernmental matters, together with the provision of support and advice to the Minister, Chief Executive and other departmental executives on national reforms, agreements and issues.
The Senior Policy Advisors / Policy and Project roles will provide high-level policy leadership, project management and expertise to support the coordination and delivery of strategic policy priorities and directions, in alignment with existing and emerging agency objectives. The positions deliver specialist policy expertise relating to the identification and analysis of complex issues and provide recommendations and reports to influence future Policy and process initiatives.
The roles will negotiate with and influences diverse stakeholders to reach agreement and achieve high-level Policy and program objectives for and on behalf of Department for Education, and will support complex and/or sensitive change management processes to guide and support the ongoing achievement of policy objectives across the Department for Education and the Government of South Australia.
Qualifications:
ASO7 Level:
- Desirable: Relevant tertiary qualification
ASO8 Level:
- Essential: A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
- Desirable: An appropriate tertiary qualification in law, economics, evaluation, public policy, early childhood or education, or equivalent experience.
Special Conditions:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration:
Opportunities exist for both ASO7 and ASO8 level Policy Advisor / Lead positions:
- ASO7 $106,512 - 115,137 per annum (1.0 FTE), plus superannuation
- ASO8 $119,317 - 123,822 per annum (1.0 FTE), plus superannuation
