The Role

Reporting to the Site Capital – Portfolio Delivery Manager, the Senior Portfolio Analyst will be a member of the Site Capital team. You will provide support to the Site Capital - Portfolio Delivery Manager in maintaining a database of works to ensure the Site Capital team is capable of making strategic, informed decisions to ensure the successful delivery and profitability of capital projects in Australia.

The role requires active engagement with multiple stakeholders to achieve various deliverables across the organization. To be successful the role requires a proactive individual with a versatile skillset willing to embody the values of Albemarle.

Key Responsibilities

Project Finance     

  • A thorough understanding of capital project cashflow, forecasting and various project control financial topics. 
  • Development of reports to reflect the site capital portfolio across of range of areas, including but not limited to actual and forecast investments, engineering focus areas and schedule.
  • Developing and preparing (as required) various models to aid in the decision-making surrounding project prioritisation
  • Lead collaboration with the wider business, actively engaging with stakeholders. 
  • Assist in the annual operating plan and long-range planning processes for the Capital Projects Portfolio and associated cost centres.

Operational Finance   

  • An understanding of operational cashflow, forecasting and asset management
  • Collaborate across the project management, engineering, human resources, purchasing, legal, corporate finance and public relations functional areas within the project as well as the 3rd party management teams.
  • Coordinate with any internal/external audit requirements and needs by providing supporting documentation and data deck.
  • Assist capital project management team in developing monthly performance KPI variance report against AOP target by analysing monthly financial results and G/L journal entry details, identify trends and follow up actions as required.

Business Improvement

  • Identify areas of improvement and lead the collaboration to enact solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage new processes which lead to tangible business improvements.
  • Change management and stakeholder engagement experience in an operational environment
  • Communicate and engage at various levels in the business, presenting and articulating concise messaging surrounding processes or report data to guide the team. 
  • Ability to think strategically and understand project delivery strategy from a Brownfield and Greenfield perspective
  • Ability to develop various platforms to enable prioritisation of projects for delivery to ensure value flow for the business. 
  • Build and maintain various PowerBi and databases for the purposes of data analytics. 

About You

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience with project delivery or controls
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with operational and/or engineering works and projects
  • Experience with SAP is highly desirable.
  • Experience with PowerBi, Database programming or similar is highly desirable
  • High level of skill within the Microsoft Office 365 Suite. Intermediate / Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel is highly desirable.
  • Strong demonstrated analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capability & business improvement initiatives.
  • Proven time management & multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple business areas.

Albemarle requires successful applicants to pass a pre-employment medical, and complete on-boarding verification of employment history, right to work, qualifications and police clearance.

Education / Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in areas of Finance, Engineering or Business is highly desirable – or demonstrated equivalent experience
  • CPA or CA qualified desired, or demonstrated ability and experience in Project Controls
