Senior Power Bi Developer / Analyst

The Opportunity

Exciting opportunity for to join TelstraSuper’s Data & Analytics Team. You will be part of a team to design and build a new suite of reporting using Power BI, whilst decommissioning legacy Tableau reporting in the process. 

Reporting to the Head of Data, the purpose of this role is to be a trusted advisor to our internal customers, providing relevant, insightful analysis and reporting to drive evidence-based decisions which improve outcomes for our members, and the fund.  

Key responsibilities:

• Partnering closely with business stakeholders, to understand and capture their analytics and reporting requirements. 
• Translating high-level business requirements to deliver interactive reports and data models using Power BI and 3rd party development tools such as Tabular Editor and Figma. 
• Develop semantic models in Power BI, preparing bespoke tables in SQL where necessary, to adjust tables sourced from the EDW.  
• Ability to dive into the data and explain, reason and comment on the trends, variations and exceptions to aid board and management reporting. 

About You

Experienced Data & Analytics professional, passionate about working with data to identify the ‘why’, who can then articulate key insights to customers. You are a technical expert with deep experience developing models and reports in Power BI, with advanced DAX and strong T-SQL. You will be a team player who can demonstrate excellent attention to detail, with the ability to establish rapport and build trust. Exceptional communication skills and ability to deal with a broad range of stakeholders will be integral to success in this role. 

Additionally, you have

• Tertiary qualifications in either (Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics) or other relevant disciplines 
• 5+ years’ experience working in a BI, reporting and analysis role 
• Experience working in the superannuation or financial services industry (Highly Desirable) 
• Advanced data analysis and visualisation skills 
• At least intermediate T_SQL
