The Opportunity

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Process Control Engineer to join our Operations Engineering & Planning team in Brisbane or Melbourne on a 24 Month Fixed Term Contract.

Reporting to the Team Lead Process Safety Improvement, you will play a key role in providing the technical leadership to deliver systematic improvement to Process Control systems, so that APA can deliver safe, secure and optimised energy to communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Process Control validation for all APA assets.
  • Develop and deliver control system improvements at site level.
  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure work delivered aligns with Process Control system improvement strategy.
  • Seek and provide feedback to improve alignment with cross functional initiatives.
  • Support design reviews, alarm workshops, CHAZOP, HAZOPs and LOPAs with high level Process Control discipline input.
  • Enable continuous improvement in various process safety processes and systems.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical/Electronic/Control Systems Engineering
  • Extensive Process Control experience in oil and gas, petrochemical or power assets
  • Chartered Professional Engineer or Chartership underway
  • Experience with developing integrated designs across PLC, RTU, SIS, SCADA, HMI, and operations historian systems and enterprise reporting systems
  • Knowledge of IEC61131-3 PLC/RTU programming languages and system.
  • Experience with industrial control system and safety system programming and troubleshooting
  • HAZOP/CHAZOP/LOPA experience

Not essential but highly desired:

  • Functional Safety Certification (CFSP/TUV)
  • Experience in Power Transmission, Generation or Renewables

About the Team

The Process Safety team is part of the wider Engineering and Planning team that support APA's Operation. The process safety team collaborate and partner with other teams to ensure that APA is operating within the target process risk. We now have an opportunity for an experienced engineer to impact APA's process safety performance and maturity to join us on a 24 month fixed term contract.
