Position Objective
The primary objective of the Program Manager is to manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of programs facilitated by ASYASS. This role will provide strategic direction, foster collaboration and drive impactful outcomes in alignment with program objectives. The Program Manager will lead efforts to develop, manage and evaluate programs aimed at assisting young people and the community.
Programs managed and coordinated by the Program Manager include:
- Youth Refuge | emergency supported accommodation for young people | 12-18 years
- Youth Housing Project | medium term, transitional housing for young people | 16 – 23 years.
- On Track Residential | Independence program
- Ampe Akweke Place | Young Women | 13 – 23 years
Main Duties and Key Accountabilities
- Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operation of ASYASS programs.
- Ensure reporting requirements relevant to the residential services are met.
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of talented and diverse staff.
- Manage programs including program design, evaluating impact, reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Provide casework services and crisis response to people seeking accommodation i.e., high needs/complex clients, or clients who have experienced trauma.
- Initiate and participate in relevant partnerships and networks to promote positive developments and change for disadvantaged young people.
- Actively seek information on current youth issues, particularly those that impact upon the ASYASS client group.
- Review, assist and support case managers with caseloads, as necessary, in relation to all clients.
- Provide young people using the service with resources, basic counseling and deliver client centred, strengths-based services including targeted case management.
- Co-ordinate and implement an intensive parenting and living skills program in the Alice Springs area, inclusive of a short-term accommodation option for young mothers and young people at risk of being homeless.
- Participate in organisational planning processes through regular attendance at Leadership meetings.
- Undertake ‘on-call’ duties as required.
- Ensure appropriate processes are followed in responding to inquiries/grievances from clients, families, staff, funding bodies or community members.
- Participate in policy development as required.
- Prepare reports for CEO, Board and Funding bodies as required.
- Undertake higher duties in the absence of the CEO.
Qualifications
• Relevant Tertiary qualifications in one or more of the following: Social Work, Psychology, Community Development Youth Work or Social Science
• Current Certificate Provide First Aid & CPR
• Current Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card)
• Current NT Driver’s License
• Current Police check
Experience
• Minimum of 3 years’ recent program management experience.
• Experience in staff development, supervision and a demonstrated ability to lead a team.
• Experience in the provision of training to small groups.
• Experience in residential care settings.
Knowledge
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Homeless Services Sector or Human Services.
• Demonstrated understanding and commitment to social justice principles.
• Knowledge of the broad issues relating to youth homelessness.
• An understanding of contemporary drug and alcohol issues relating to young people and a commitment to implementing harm minimization approaches
