About the Role

The Casey HOPE Initiative is a new program for Monash Health's Mental Health Program. We are excited to announce a new Senior Psychosocial Support Worker position within our Hospital Outreach Post-suicidal Engagement (HOPE) team.

This initiative provides support for people at the point of hospital discharge who are identified as at-risk of suicide and/or repeated intentional self-harm.  This initiative supports people who present to Casey Hospital catchment area.  Our consumers are over the age of 18 and their carers/families in the community can be supported for a period of up to three months. The aim is to identify and build protective factors, improve links to community-based-supports, build resilience and capacity with a recovery focus.

This is a full-time/part time ongoing role, working Business hours Monday - Friday with the Casey HOPE program as required.

About You

You have a penchant for building supportive and respectful relationships with individuals experiencing distress and working with people in the community. You lead by example, thrive within a supportive multidisciplinary team and are truly passionate about applying person-centered and trauma-informed practices and recovery focused approaches in delivering tailored Psychosocial Support to individuals experiencing distress.

You are also an advocate of Monash Health’s Strategic Guiding Principles.

What You Need: 

  • Relevant Qualification (from a tertiary institution after certain periods of study; some conditions apply), including major studies in welfare work. 
  • Demonstrated experience in, and sound understanding of, the personal family and social issues associated with suicidal ideation and attempts including groups identified to be as increased risk of suicide or experiencing a suicidal crisis. 
  • A valid Victorian Drivers Licence
