The role
Suncorp Group's Senior Quantitative Analyst performs an essential role within the Bank CFO team, explicitly ensuring that from the 1LoD perspective, we have developed, maintained and applied sound Market Risk models including Traded Market Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk, IRRBB, and Liquidity Risk. As part of this, you will ensure we have an up to date view of all model development, application, governance and implementation requirements within their accountabilities.
What you'll do
Working with Treasury and Market & Financial Risk Analytics leaders to ensure:
- Ensure model governance responsibilities are fulfilled for Traded Market Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk, IRRBB, and Liquidity Risk models
- Maintain up-to-date model documentation in adherence to the Bank's Model Integrity standards
- Continually challenge and enhance model methodology, balancing practicality, materiality, and theoretical accuracy
- Complete annual reviews and provide support for independent validations as needed
- Coordinate and execute the model development roadmap, including the documentation and implementation of new models or enhancements to existing models
- Engage in regular or ad-hoc interactions with the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority and other regulatory agencies to explain applied/proposed methodologies and assumptions, ensuring timely and accurate implementation of regulatory changes
Leading a team that provides:
- Technical oversight to the design and application of Treasury risk models within the department's control, which includes working with the second line of defence model oversight teams
- Offer precise guidance and thought leadership to the Model Governance resources, ensuring the clear documentation of model implementation and monitoring requirements. Also, supervise the execution of model implementation scoping to ensure alignment with the designated design
What you'll bring
- Degree in Economics, Statistics / Mathematics, or Risk (mandatory)
- Post graduate finance, economics or accounting qualifications requirement (mandatory)
- 5+ years' experience in financial services
- A strong understanding of the modelling capabilities and obligations of an advanced-accredited Bank
