Job description

Your new role as the Senior Research Analyst will be in the Crime Research (CR) team of the Crime Statistics and Research (CSR) unit within QGSO.

THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Plan, coordinate and lead criminal justice research and evaluation projects using appropriate research methods.
• Lead project teams and manage activities to ensure outputs satisfy QGSO standards for integrity, accuracy and timeliness based on quality principles and methodologies.
• Provide high level technical advice, information and support to clients and senior officers on complex diverse issues, including those related to criminal justice reform.
• Exercise judgement to satisfy client requirements, identify trends and manage competing priorities.
• Represent the Office at state/commonwealth conferences, internal/external meetings, and interdepartmental working groups as required.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships between internal work groups, academia, and other government and non-government stakeholders.
• Mentor and/or support the professional development of team members.
• Prepare complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, commentary, presentations and correspondence for various audiences, including general public, policy officers and senior officers.
• Prepare detailed project proposals and agreements for the provision of research services.

SUCCESS CRITERIA:
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate:
• excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• excellent data processing and analysis skills - high competency in R or ability to quickly acquire competency in R would be highly desirable.
• good organisational skills and the ability to navigate, lead and manage competing work priorities in complex and, at times, fast paced environment.
• ability to apply effective judgement, communication and understanding of perspectives in developing solutions, working with others and translating research findings.
• ability to assist build the research capability of team and/or project members.
