About us
Court Services Victoria (CSV) was established on 1 July 2014 as an independent statutory body corporate to provide expert administrative support to Victoria's courts; the Supreme Court, the County Court, the Magistrates' Court, the Children's Court, and the Coroners Court, as well as the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the Judicial College of Victoria. CSV aspires to be a strong, independently run, and efficient national and international leader in courts administration.
The Finance Services Division is the central corporate business area of CSV and is responsible for providing mandatory and specialist support services to each of the jurisdictions as well as CSV-wide accountabilities.
Finance Services is responsible for supporting the individual financial management and analysis functions of the courts and tribunals within CSV. This includes statutory reporting to government; production of the annual financial statements, setting policies and procedures for conformance with mandatory legislation and regulations, coordinating all CSV financial estimates; assisting in the preparation of Expenditure Review Committee (ERC) and Public Estimate and Accounts (PAEC) briefings and submissions and associated regular corporate reporting requirements to the central agencies; and leading the planning and implementation of organisation-wide process and procedures for the management of risk arising from financial management activities.
About the role
Day to day the role manages the estimates and actuals for CSV recorded in SRIMS, the State's resource information management system at the Department of Treasury and Finance. A key part of this process is the monthly recognition of appropriation and other revenue in CSVs ledger as well as ad-hoc preparation of information supporting funding bids and proposals for consideration by government. In addition the role applies accounting standards and expert government accounting knowledge to the preparation of notes to CSVs accounts and advice to business units of accounting treatments for transactions through the year affecting the notes to the accounts. CSV is looking to streamline and modernise its payment systems and this role will lead development in this area.
About you
The successful candidate will be CPA/CA qualified, have a strong working knowledge of public sector accounting practices and relevant accounting standards, possess an inquisitive and analytical mind, taking pride in attention to detail and have an enthusiasm for and proven track record in improving business processes.
