Senior Security Architect

Reporting directly to the Manager - Security and Architecture, Cyber and Solutions, the Senior Cyber Security Architect provides security advice into the design, build and test of the federal client's corporate and digital systems to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all information assets.

The senior cyber Security Architect will work alongside a dynamic team of professionals to collaboratively achieve the Agency's business objectives. As a pivotal member of the team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that solutions are resilient against cyber threats, align with regulatory requirements, and adhere to industry best practices.

Key Accountabilities / Main focus

• Architectural Development:Lead the development of secure architectures for complex solutions, ensuring alignment with cybersecurity requirements and strategic objectives. Employ your expertise in cybersecurity to design robust, resilient, and compliant solutions that mitigate risks and protect sensitive information.
• Policy and Principles Establishment:Establish policies, principles, and best practices for the selection of cybersecurity components and controls. Define standards and guidelines to ensure that architectural decisions align with cybersecurity frameworks, regulations, and industry standards.
• Risk Management:Manage cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities by assessing threats, identifying weaknesses, and implementing appropriate controls. Balance security requirements with business objectives and operational needs to optimize risk mitigation strategies.
• Stakeholder Communication:Effectively communicate proposed cybersecurity decisions to stakeholders, including technical teams, executive leadership, and regulatory bodies. Collaborate with stakeholders to address security concerns, gain buy-in for security initiatives, and foster a culture of cybersecurity awareness.
• Coordination and Management:Coordinate and manage cyberSecurity Architecture across multiple projects or initiatives. Ensure that security controls are integrated seamlessly into the overall solution architecture and that security requirements are consistently applied throughout the development lifecycle.
• Compliance and Governance:Ensure compliance with relevant cybersecurity regulations, standards, and frameworks. Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and industry trends to proactively adapt security controls and practices to evolving threats and compliance requirements.
• Incident Response and Recovery:Develop and maintain incident response plans and procedures to effectively detect, respond to, and recover from cybersecurity incidents. Collaborate with incident response teams to investigate security breaches, mitigate impacts, and prevent future incidents.

What you'll bring

• To be a successful Senior Cyber Security Architect you'll bring extensive experience (10 years+) in ICT leadership and architecture, with a specialised focus on Cyber Security, showcasing deep knowledge in Security Architecture, risk management, and control frameworks such as ISM, NIST, and ISO27001/2.
• A proven track record of integrating security controls by fostering collaboration among cyber, technical, and business professionals.
• Knowledge and experience with Government security frameworks such as the Information Security Manual (ISM).
• Experience in developing and refining enterprise Security Architecture framework and services catalogue.
• Extensive experience in engaging stakeholders on cyber Security Architecture activities, including the development and refinement of Security Architecture patterns.
• Experience in providing expert risk, assurance and compliance advice to business areas to understand, identify and document key controls to ensure key risks and compliance obligations are adequately managed.
