Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State Adult Burns Service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.
We are seeking Senior Speech Pathologists who will undertake professional practice in accordance to the Speech Pathology Australia Code of Ethics, the Speech Pathology Australia Scope of Practice, the FSFHG Allied Health Credentialing Policy and Procedure and SMHS policies and guidelines. As part of the multidisciplinary team, you will be required to provide advanced, high quality assessment, diagnosis and management of dysphagia and feeding difficulties, and contribute to the profession through application of evidence based practice and policy. The focus of the role is to provide expertise in direct care delivery of paediatric and neonatal inpatients and outpatients and act as a Speech Pathology clinical consultant/resource to Speech Pathologists and other health professionals in the areas of specialty. This role plans, implements and evaluates patient safety and quality of care in the area of specialty.
We currently have one permanent part-time vacancy available, that will work predominantly within a multidisciplinary paediatric feeding team to provide equitable, responsive, and timely services to infants and children as well as provision of services to paediatric inpatients at FSH, as required. To ensure comprehensive, evidence-based care, instrumental assessments may form part of your duties. You may be required to supervise students and/ or P1 staff with anticipated service growth. Ideally you will have excellent capacity to build strong stakeholder relationships and systems for seeking self-directed learning to apply evidence-based practice in this clinical area. Experience working closely in allied health and medically led multidisciplinary teams as well as strong written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills is essential.
