Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. What you'll be doing
The NSW Health Education Centre Against Violence (ECAV) is a statewide unit auspiced by Western Sydney Local Health District. ECAV is responsible for multi-sectorial learning, capacity building and workforce development, community development and supervision, in the specialist areas of prevention and response to violence, abuse and neglect (PARVAN).
ECAV aims to ensure that the people of NSW can access culturally safe, high quality, trauma-informed services with practitioners who are diverse, knowledgeable, skilled, ethical and competent in the prevention of and healing from violence, abuse and neglect.
ECAV Senior Statewide Educators are responsible for developing, delivering, evaluating and improving short course training, competency-based education and workforce development programs for NSW Health, other government and non-government agency staff across NSW. Educators may also participate in project management, resource development, forum and event coordination, policy development and other aspects associated with workforce development.
This position is responsible for supporting implementation of the Men’s Domestic and Family Violence Interventions state-wide workforce development strategy, that aligns to the NSW Government’s Domestic and Family Violence Plan 2022-2027 to hold perpetrators accountable and deliver evidence-based quality services to assist victim safety and support their recovery.

Essential Crieria:
Qualification: Relevant tertiary qualifications including Behavioural Science, Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or equivalent
Selection Criteria: * Relevant tertiary qualifications including Behavioural Science, Social Work, Psychology or equivalent, and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or willingness to work towards this.

  • Demonstrated experience and currency in working in male Family Violence and/or Men’s Behaviour Change Programs and the ability to work collaboratively with other organisations / services in the sector to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the socio-political context, nature, dynamics (including coercive control and grooming) and impacts of violence, abuse and neglect (VAN) within the socio-political context of ongoing colonisation and intersections across Aboriginal communities, CALD communities, LGBTIQ+ communities and people living with disability and/or mental illness.
  • Sound understanding of adult education theory and workforce professional development; proven ability to critically analyse emerging issues and practice trends, applying this to the development and delivery of high-quality training programs, with a focus on VAN.
  • Demonstrated understanding of cultural safety, humility and responsiveness and the ability to apply and promote culturally safe practices in all aspects of work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, insight and exceptional self-regulation skills, capacity to reflect and take responsibility to ensure respectful behaviours, with experience building productive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team; effective organisational and time management skills and including proven experience meeting deadlines and competency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) with demonstrated ability to learn new record management systems and/or platforms (eg. Office 365, HPE).
  • Willingness to travel within NSW and has a current driver’s license valid in NSW.
