How Will Your Ideas Shape the Future?

As our new Senior Substation Design Engineer - Secondary, you'll be the secret sauce in a team of top-notch specialists who turn ideas into reality for our clients. You’ll be working with a vibrant multi-disciplinary crew on a smorgasbord of HV projects. Get ready to dive into a variety of exciting and challenging projects across Australia. Your ideas won't just be heard—they’ll be celebrated!

Your Role Will Include:

  • Conduct, lead, review, and verify detailed designs and technical reports for the client, including substation secondary systems.
  • Lead and deliver the concept to detailed design of substation secondary systems.
  • Secondary systems design - produce SLDs, substation layouts, equipment/materials lists, clearance checks, and short circuit force calculations.
  • Understand the critical technical aspects of projects, implementation, and integration for complex systems.
  • Focus on transmission and distribution substations' secondary systems electrical design, including protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, protection, and control room layout.
  • Ensure the project is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Undertake site inspections and associated reporting.
  • Liaise with clients and contractors regarding project objectives and targets on technical issues and problem resolution.

What Are We Looking for From You?

  • Bachelor’s degree qualification in electrical/power engineering are preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in substation secondary design, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • Knowledge of the transmission and distribution industry, standards, and codes in Australia and/or design experience with Australian electrical utilities.
  • Strong electrical design skills, particularly in secondary systems and substations.
  • Site experience/ experience in projects being constructed and commissioned.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation a plus.
  • Skilled at or able to learn software packages independently, such as PTW, DigSILENT, ETAP, etc., would be an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in offering solutions to technical challenges. Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including effective influencing, motivation, and delegation skills.
  • Ability to work well with others to deliver as a team.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Inquisitive nature and desire to grow your career.
  • Chartered status would be an advantage.
