The Environment and Sustainability Policy and Planning Department sits within the Planning Directorate and takes a lead role in developing the strategic environmental and sustainability policies to deliver this outcome. The Sustainability Planning branch is responsible for developing policies, plans and strategies and undertaking projects and initiatives to address key policy areas such as sustainability, climate mitigation, energy and carbon management and environmental management system requirements.
About our opportunity
As our Senior Sustainability Planner, you will act as a technical specialist to provide guidance and support to team members in the delivery of sustainability and scientific services to drive integrated outcomes across City of Moreton Bay. As a Senior team member, you will provide specialist advice, lead, and support the delivery and implementation of moderate to complex sustainability, environmental, climate change mitigation and energy management projects.
You will foster professional and effective relationships, working collaboratively with key stakeholders (internally and externally) to ensure projects, initiatives and services are achieved and to deliver safe, practical, and sustainable outcomes.
About you:
We are seeking someone with considerable knowledge and experience across the fields of either or a combination of, sustainability, environmental planning, environmental management systems, climate change mitigation or strategic planning, including relevant qualifications within those fields or similar.
As a Senior you will also have experience in leading and supporting the delivery of moderate-to-complex technical projects, programs and initiatives, the ability to effectively work with a range of officers from across Council and excellent project management and communication skills to deliver great outcomes.
You will also have outstanding collaboration skills and demonstrated experience with stakeholder engagement and consultation, as well as being confident to negotiate practical and sustainable outcomes.
Experience working within a government and political context on sustainability and environmental management projects and policies is highly desirable.
